Press Release Tourism awards
October
2004
Last weekend Undersea Explorer won the
Tropical North Queensland Tourism Awards for
Adventure Tourism. This accolade has
thrilled our management and staff, and the
achievement has been earned through teamwork,
passion for our product, and commitment to high
standards of customer service……………and a bit of
"shark madness" helps!
"We are pleased that our unique combination of
adventure diving expeditions and marine research
has received recognition" said John Rumney,
Manager. "Our goal of providing incredible,
exciting and new adventure dive experiences
through conducting groundbreaking research
projects has been achieved!"
After winning the 1998 Eco-tourism category,
and a 2002 Eco-tourism finalist, Undersea
Explorer has now been recognized as the North
Queensland leader in Adventure tourism. We are
very proud that such a distinguished judging
panel have recognised that a company can excel
in both Eco-tourism and Adventure.
Undersea Explorer has gained world recognition
with our shark research project, Coral Sea
conservation and Dwarf Minke Whale Expeditions
featured on 60 Minutes, ABC 7.30pm Report,
National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Channel
9 and French III.
Tropical North Queensland tourism is only
possible because of our sustainable protected
natural assets, the high tourism standards in
the region, and excellent local suppliers. Many
thanks to our guests and agents and researchers
who have supported us over the years - you are
all involved in this win!
We are now hoping to do well in the state
Awards, and we send congratulations to all 2004
TNQ Tourism Award winners and finalists.
